It’s winter, and I am not very interested in painting outside when the cold winter winds are blowing, and there is snow on the ground (at least there is today).  So, the class that I take at the Beverley Street Studio School, in Staunton, run by Ron Boehmer, is painting indoors.  This is a great time to pull out the paintings which were not finished this summer or fall.

I have been gradually finishing several of the plein air paintings I started last summer and fall. The one above, is a small oil done on location in Swoope, VA.  I am getting closer to being done, but have some places to redo, and work in the leaf area to make them smaller.  The water needs work, basically quite a bit!

The other one was started on Topsail Island, NC outside a little coffee/bookstore, called Quarter Moon.  A great place to go if you are on the island.  I had started it with a sign right in front, which was then eliminated, which really helped.  I really had a great time doing the light/dark on the chairs and the area to the side of the store.
